Spring Chinook fishing in the Columbia River has been slow. A few spring Chinook are being caught in the Willamette River.
Trout fishing continues to be good in local lakes.
Steelheading in the Columbia and area tributaries is slow.
Fishing for warm water species is slow, although walleye fishing is improving.
“The idea is to keep the wild fish wild and hatchery fish in the hatchery,” Huff said.
Northern pike eat endangered salmon and steelhead. The predator fish are getting closer to prime territory in the Columbia River, threatening to sink millions of dollars in salmon recovery.

Fall Chinook in the Columbia and Rogue rivers.
Smallmouth bass and walleye on the upper Columbia.
Sea-run cutthroat trout on the north coast.
Trout fishing in Diamond Lake and Detroit Reservoir.
Summer steelhead on the fly on the Clackamas and lower Deschutes rivers.
